the imaginarium

the imaginarium of doctor parnassus

heath ledgers last movie (uncompleted last movie)
johnny depp, jude law and colin farrel stepped in to fulfill his final work of art

however!

it wasnt as glorious as i thought it was going to be...

directed by the holy grail, meaning of life, life of brians terry gilliam i was expecting this movie to be funny, fast paced and exciting...however slow scenes turned into boring scenes with not so compeling actors...until heath is brought into th story it is uninteresting...but even the legendary heath ledger cannot make an average movie a master piece and so some of his acting seemed sereal and unrealisticly dramatic or strange...this whole movie is strange...

its saving grace to make heaths last movie not such a tragedy lays in the hands of the actual story, the special effects and imaginary worlds that terry gilliam has created for the characters in the story to travel upon! like your own personal yellow brick road...filled with your hearts desires and wonders, interests and secrets.

you leave the cinema expecting to wake up from one of yuor own dreams...and u see real life people walking and drinking coffee and buying clothes and you wonder just when this ugly, dull dream will end and turn back into the colourful and exotic dream of the imaginarium of doctor parnassus!

the imaginarium of doctor parnassus rated: 3/5

"can you put a price on your dreams?"

Heath Ledger and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Heath Ledger said while on the set of "The Dark Knight" that playing the character The Joker was the most enjoyable experience in his career so far and in an enormous offering of love and respect Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrel offered their salary from "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" in which all procedes would go to Heaths daughter Matilda Rose Ledger.

Full synopsis of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus"

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his first-born reached its 16Th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr Nick. Valentina is now rapidly approaching this 'coming of age' milestone and Dr Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr Parnassus promises his daughter's hand in marriage to the man that helps him win. In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles - and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all.

Heath Ledger's final film was only half way when he was found dead from an accidental drug overdose. Jude Law, Colin Farrel and Johnny Depp stepped in to finish off the rest of Heaths work and with digital technology director Terry Gilliam is "delighted that Heath's brilliant performance can be shared with the world."

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is back on schedule and is due to release late 2009 or early 2010. Heath Ledger died at 28.
