WALL E was a movie that i did go into with high expectations.
i read a lot about it as it seemed a lot different to all the other great pixar movies over the years.
but even though it was pretty unusual, i thought that it was one of the best movies i have seen all year.
WALL E is a robot that was sent to earth, along with thousands more of its kind to clean up, so it can make earth habitable again. but after beng the last robot left of its kind, it has developed more of a human nature, and now, whilst cleaning, collects objects that take his interest. you feel bad for WALL E as it becomes clear that he is lonely, and his only friend is a cockroach. but eventually another spaceship lands, and a more sophisticated robot is deployed, scanning the surrounding area for any sign of earth being sustainable again.
WALL E immediately falls in love with this new and probably girl robot(though WALL E's sex is undefined). soon though, the new robot called Eve finds a plant and immediately sends a beacon back to the mothership, where it is shown that all of mankind lives on, in space.
WALL E is desperate to remain with eve so sneaks aboard the shuttle that is taking eve to the mothership.
human life on the mothership is a scary future. with everyone being served by robots, no one can walk cos they are all so fat and just zoom around on thier little hover things all the time.
the captain of the ship soon finds a conspiracy to keep the ship off earth, but after a courageous battle, he soon steers the ship back to earth.
although all the robot action is cool, it was nice to have a bit of dialogue between humans, as WALL E saying "eve" was cute at first, but got annoying very quickly.
it is unusual to see a love story between robots but it was still very moving.
the future of man kind on the other hand is a very scary picture. this was pixar's most outgoing film yet, and they have portrayed a powerful message. it is good to see that they made a film about this issue, so the kids growing up today might be able to get a better picture on stuff like global warming.
overall i would say that WALL E is one of the best movies i have seen all year.
it covers issues that really need to be covered, and is outgoing, and delivers a powerful message.
